Shivaji Market

The story

Built in 1886 as the Main Market of the Cantonment, Shivaji Market's arches still shelter fruit, fish, mutton, and dry-goods stalls. The Christmas-week rush for bakery cakes is a Camp institution.

A glimpse of Shivaji Market, from one of its wings, while exploring the camp streets in search of such rare gems. The structure being quite old you get to see the traditional roofing structure, with a very organic placement of street elements, like street lights and signages placed everywhere, creepers growing out of the small cracks and crevices, etc.
