Lakaki Lake Park

The story

Lakaki Lake Park provides a quiet setting for walking and relaxation. Visitors can stroll along the perimeter of the lake, observing local birdlife and the surrounding foliage. The park's design includes paved paths suitable for light exercise or a leisurely walk. Benches are positioned at various points, offering places to rest and view the lake. What it was: this ground was an abandoned stone quarry before residents pushed for its revival. The cut rock faces along one edge are still visible, and they are the detail most sketchers end up drawing. Sketching here: the benches on the paved perimeter path are the easiest place to settle with a sketchbook. Morning light picks out the far bank and the water reflections; early evening flattens the light and is better for birds on the water. The lake fits comfortably in a landscape spread, with the quarry edge and treeline as the backbone of the drawing. Walking it: the loop around the lake is short, level and unhurried — twenty to thirty minutes at a walking pace, longer if you stop to draw. Paths are paved and easy underfoot. Timings matter: the park opens only in two windows, roughly 7:00–10:00 AM and 4:00–6:30 PM, so plan a sketching visit inside those hours. Carry water; there is little shade on the open side.
