The story
The Taj Mahal Palace offers views of the Arabian Sea and the Gateway of India. The hotel features diverse dining options and facilities. History notes
Commissioned by J. N. Tata, the Taj Mahal Palace opened at Cuffe Parade on December 16, 1903. It was one of the first luxury hotels in India. Its construction predates the Gateway of India by two decades. During World War I, it was converted into a 600-bed hospital.
